LA Metro is proposing to address traffic on the 405 Freeway by turning the carpool lane into a toll lane with “dynamic pricing.” That is a fancy way of saying they will charge more during rush hours.
The carpool lane, paid for with taxpayer dollars, was only recently completed after years of disruptive construction impacts on our and other neighborhoods. Now Metro has proposed a few alternatives, including turning the one carpool lane into a toll lane, adding a second lane that would be a second toll lane, or adding a second free carpool lane.
